    We have made our commitments in China a reality by starting up the Propylene Oxide (PO) and Styrene Monomer (SM) co-production plant that we license to the Chinese company.

    We launch two new products for additive manufacturing specially designed for applications with high mechanical performance.     Repsol plans to build Spain's first chemical polyurethane foam recycling plant at its Puertollano Industrial Complex. It will be capable of processing over 2,000 metric tons of waste per year.

    We work jointly with the Armando Alvarez Group (AAG) to develop circular solutions, through mechanical recycling, for flexible packaging not intended for food contact.
  • Committed to polymers for the automotive industry

    Last June, a new reactor for one of the polypropylene plants arrived at our industrial complex in Tarragona. It is our second gas-phase reactor to manufacture high-impact resistance polypropylene for applications such as door panels, instrument panels, consoles, pillars, bumpers, technical parts, safety parts, batteries, etc. With this new investment, we further commit to the future of the automotive market at a difficult time for this sector.
  • We join forces with Acteco to boost the circular economy

    We will implement a project in partnership with with Acteco to increase the capacity for production of high quality recycled polyolefins at Acteco’s plant in Ibi, Alicante (Spain). The recycled product from this plant will be included in the Repsol Reciclex range, designed for high-value applications and those with high technical requirements.
  • We join SP Berner to develop circular polyolefins for the furniture sector

    We join forces with SP Berner to offer consumers a range of sustainable terrace furniture that incorporates 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, without customers perceiving changes in their properties and making them participants in a responsible and circular consumption.

    We have signed a collaboration agreement to license the high-pressure technology for the production of EVA/EBA copolymers (ethylene vinyl acetate /ethylene butyl acrylate) and low density polyethylene (LDPE) with the American engineering company Engineers & Constructors International (ECI), depository of the high-pressure technology originally developed and licensed by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) through its UK subsidiary, Simon Carves Engineering, Ltd. (SC).

    On June 13, in Berlin, European Plastic Converters (EuPC), an association that brings together thousands of European plastic converters, awarded us Best LDPE Producer for Europe in 2019. The survey was carried out via secret vote from polymer customers throughout Europe.

    We participate in the NAPA project, within the call RETOS. This project aims to improve the food safety of food packaging, which is already safe in the present, in the next three years.

    For a long time, we have been developing different alternatives to solve the recycling of products manufactured with our materials. We have experience in chemical recycling, framed in our Zero Project, and in the Reciclex Project where it has been possible to materialize the mechanical recycling of polyolefins within our portfolio. And in the future, it could also incorporate recycled polyols from recycled resources.

    The SFIP (Société Française des Ingénieurs des Plastiques) and the IMT Lille Douai (School of Engineering), in association with the GPA (Groupement Plastique Automobile), come together to organize a new edition of this biennial congress dedicated to the contribution of polymers to the automotive industry.

  • A leading authority in food safety

    We are the first polyolefins producer to obtain the FSCC 22000 food safety certification in all our industrial complexes. In January 2018, we already obtained this certification for all plastic polymers produced at our Tarragona industrial site. The first ever granted to a polyolefin production center worldwide, which was later followed by our Puertollano and Sines complexes in December 2018 and March 2019, respectively.
  • Repsol becomes a shareholder of the 3D-printing company, Recreus

    Repsol, through its strategic investment fund, has acquired 17% of the Spanish company Recreus, dedicated to the production and marketing of flexible and rigid thermoplastic filaments for 3D-printing. Recreus is one of the most important manufacturers in this market, thanks to its renowned brand of flexible filaments Filaflex.
  • We were back at the European Coating Show

    We showcased our products at the European Coating Show 2019 (ECS), the leading trade fair for adhesives, sealants and construction chemicals, held in Nuremberg.
  • Committed to the European Commission's initiative to promote recycled plastics

    We have joined the "Circular Plastics Alliance" (CPA), launched by the European Commission to increase the volume of recycled plastic in the EU market. This commitment supports Repsol's strategy to promote the transition towards a new economic model based on the circular economy. This commitment follows the "Pact for the Circular Economy" Repsol signed in 2017, together with the main Spanish economic and social agents.

  • We sign an agreement to improve LDPE film circularity

    In order to increase the quantity of polyolefins that incorporate post-consumer recycled material in their composition, we have signed a new collaboration agreement with Saica Natur to maximize the use of low density polyethylene (LDPE) film waste. We intend to combine our knowledge and skills to achieve new polyolefins that ensure quality consistency for applications with low recycling penetration rates.
