We follow high standards based on best practices from the sector and international transport conventions. Moreover, we conduct audits and inspections in our operating companies to ensure that they also meet our safety standards.

Ground transportation

We distribute our products by road. Most of these operations are carried out by contractor companies. To guarantee safety in these cases, we have internal standards based on the ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) and best practices from the sector, which are applicable globally. 

These standards establish demanding safety requirements both for vehicles from our own fleet and those contracted through carrier companies, in addition to clauses regarding the qualification and training of drivers and their emergency response capabilities. 

The vehicles that transport our products have the most advanced safety technology and guarantee that our customers receive a top quality service.

Marine and river transportation

Our Vetting department is in charge of evaluating, inspecting, and ensuring that all the vessels that transport goods for our company under any type of charter meet the requirements we have established, which are based on international codes adopted by the International Maritime Organization (OMI), industry best practices, and recommendations published by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF).

Prevention is key for guaranteeing the safety of the vessel, crew, and cargo. This is why all vessels that transport hydrocarbons or any other chemical substance must have a double hull.

Air transportation

Some of our exploration and production activities are located in difficult-to-access areas that can only be reached by air transport. Some examples are offshore oil and gas rigs or onshore sites that cannot be accessed by road as they are in sensitive areas or due to extreme conditions, etc.

As we do not have our own air fleet, we set demanding evaluation, inspection, and auditing criteria when contracting services from third parties to transport equipment and people.

We go one step further than international air transport regulations and apply best practices from the oil and gas industry in accordance with the guidelines of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) to establish safety requirements applicable to the aircraft and aviation infrastructure (heliports, aerodromes, and other facilities) of our contractors, as well as the qualifications, experience, and training of their personnel and their safety, quality, and emergency response management systems.
