DAC Project, a pioneering technology for direct air capture

On the journey of our commitment to reduce emissions, Repsol Corporate Venturing invested in DACMA in 2023. It is a startup that develops Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology based on solid adsorbent. Alongside this investment, a project was contracted by Repsol Sinopec Brasil to DACMA to install a 300-tonne CO2 plant, which was launched in October 2024. The following goals are:

Start the operation of a plant with a capacity to capture 300 tonnes of CO2/year.

Develop new adsorbent materials to capture CO2 from the air.

Analyze the effects of CO2 injection and mineralization in basaltic rocks, through R&D projects.

Seek marketing of DAC technology by 2030.

We coordinate the "Madrid Vuela Sostenible" (Madrid Flies Sustainable) project, with the support of the Community of Madrid and the European Union, to advance in the decarbonization of air transport. Together with IMDEA Energía, ARIEMA, and EVOENZYME, we are promoting the generation and dissemination of knowledge on technologies related to decarbonization and the circular economy, facilitating the transformation of waste into sustainable aviation fuels.
