As of 2024 we received an MSCI ESG Rating of AA, an improvement over the previous year’s rating of A. On a scale ranging from a maximum score of AAA to CCC, the result is determined according to exposure to industry-specific ESG risks and the ability to manage those risks relative to peers.​

In 2023, 2024 and 2025, Repsol has obtained the ESG Industry Top Rated distinction recognizing our position in the top performance range (6.7%) of the entire global industry, due to our lower risk of experiencing material financial impacts derived from ESG factors.

Morningstar Sustainalytics, through its ESG risk rating, evaluates companies and rates them on a scale of 0-100 by risk level (0 being the highest score).

In 2024 we received an ESG Risk rating of 24.1 and the company was assessed as having a medium risk of experiencing this type of financial impact ranking as the second lowest-risk company in the Oil & Gas sector.

We obtain in 2024 the “Prime” rating, awarded to companies with ESG performance above the sector-specific threshold. ISS ESG performs an assessment of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. In the context of the Corporate ESG Rating, ESG performance refers to a company's demonstrated ability to adequately manage material ESG risks, mitigate negative social and environmental impacts and generate positive impacts and capitalize on the opportunities offered by the transformation towards sustainable development.

FTSE 4 Good Logo

We have achieved a score of 4.2 in 2024, with 5 being the highest possible score. We are positioned in the 95th percentile within the Oil & Gas sector.​

The company has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series since 2011, which measures the performance of companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in accordance with global standards.

We have achieved the first position among the top 110 companies worldwide evaluated in 2023 from the extractive and textile sectors, plus the 127 largest companies from the automotive, food, and technology sectors assessed in 2022.

Every two years, the WBA conducts the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB), comparing companies by sector and providing a benchmark score. This is the most respected Human Rights recognition and Repsol is the first Spanish company to reach it.

This year Repsol has responded for the first time to the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Water Security reporting questionnaire, which represents one of the best practices in terms of transparency and disclosure of water management for companies.

As in climate change, we obtained a B rating (A-D rating). This places Repsol's management above the sector average in water-related issues and at the average in relation to climate change, being positioned in both areas above the regional average and the global average.​

This rating reflects that at Repsol we are managing our environmental impact and implementing actions associated with good environmental management.

Detailed view of Repsol Industrial Complex

In 2024, TPI has rated us for the seventh consecutive year with the highest rating (level 5, Transition Planning and Implementation) in its Management Quality analysis, which assesses the quality of companies' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management, as well as the risks and opportunities in relation to the energy transition.​

Industrial complex

Carbon Tracker analyzes the impact of climate change on financial markets, with its main objective being to help align capital markets with the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The latest analysis, Paris Maligned III, published on April 8, 2025, assesses if the main Oil & Gas companies are aligned with the Paris Agreement by considering six key metrics. Thirty companies in the sector participated in this assessment and Repsol was ranked first.​

As in previous years, we have recently completed a comprehensive assessment of our sustainability practices with EcoVadis, a global platform for business sustainability analysis.

EcoVadis evaluates our policies, actions, and results in key areas such as environment, labor practices and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Our score of 73/100 validates our commitments, practices, and achievements in sustainability, and provides us with a clear roadmap for continued progress.

We promote excellence in research

In November 2021, our Repsol Technology Lab was recognized with the European “HR Excellence in Research” award.

This award, from the European Commission through the mechanism, "The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)," represents a recognition of our commitment to the development and continuous improvement of a human resources strategy for researchers in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

This recognizes that our company guarantees open and transparent hiring processes of researchers based on meritocracy and capabilities, and it also seeks to develop a favorable work environment for researchers to carry out their activity in the best conditions, which will result in more added value and to generate talent attraction for the Repsol Technology Lab.
