Repsol Technology Lab
We work to transform the energy sector through technological innovation, promoting new technologies that speed up the energy change.
Innovation and technology
We promote innovation and incorporate technological advances to improve and grow, ourselves and our environment.
We do so by developing innovative solutions that contribute to transforming the current energy model with the support of three pillars.
Repsol Technology Lab
We work to transform the energy sector through technological innovation, promoting new technologies that speed up the energy change.
Digital transformation
We are making headway in the energy of the future thanks to the support of a digitalization program in which specialized teams are working to launch over 280 digital initiatives.
Open Innovation
We drive entrepreneurship by backing innovation and open collaboration. A space for co-creation to develop groundbreaking solutions.
100% renewable fuels
A real alternative to decarbonize mobility. Made from 100% organic waste.
Repsol's technological innovation is born in Technology Lab, our innovation and technology center, where more than 200 scientists complement our own research work, establishing partnerships with research centers, universities, startups, and corporations from all over the world, through its investment vehicle, CorporateVenturing, and an open innovation strategy.
More about Repsol Technology Lab and our open innovation model
We detect, validate, and develop technologies aimed at decarbonization, circular economy, and Repsol's industrial transformation, with the following standing out:
Renewable hydrogen production.
Production of renewable fuels from organic waste, and development of synthetic fuels from CO2 and renewable hydrogen.
Application of the circular economy as a pillar to transform industrial centers into large multi-energy hubs, capable of using different types of waste and converting them into carbon-neutral products.
Development of technological products for the energy transition, such as the Energy Management System (EMS), which optimizes the electricity consumed, generated, and stored by customers.
More about digital transformation
Digitalization is an essential lever to advance in the energy transition and the achievement of our decarbonization commitment. A digitalized value chain to support our sustainability objectives means:
Data analysis and use of artificial intelligence, to improve data-based decision making.
Automated operations, based on Digital Twins, Robotics, or Internet of Things (IoT), to address safety, operational efficiency, and process automation.
Omni-channel experience, to further our customer-centric strategy and support our low-carbon, multi-energy service offering.
Multi-cloud strategy in a cloud-first approach to simplify and accelerate the development of digital products and reduce the carbon footprint of our data centers.
The deployment of digital technologies that enable us to evolve our industrial facilities and improve operations, reduce emissions, and maximize energy efficiency.
