Responding to the trends towards protecting health and the environment, Repsol has developed a range of aromatic oils with low toxicity that do not require labelling and correspond to the acronyms TDAE (treated distillates aromatic extract), MES (medium extract solvent) and RAE (residual aromatic extract), thereby addressing the need for new products that are greatly demand in the tyre market.
Under the TDAE type oils, there are two specialized products available: Extensoil 1721 and 1996. The main difference between them is their viscosity level. These products are obtained through a conventional process that lowers toxicity, and they are especially suited for formulating pneumatic parts that require a high glass transition temperature, guaranteeing high braking performance.
Another type of oil is the Extensoil 1471 MES. This is an aromatic oil low in PA's called MES that provides great plasticising qualities. Due to its aromaticity, it is especially suited for formulating pneumatic parts that require a high glass transition temperature, guaranteeing high braking performance. Its plasticising nature means it can improve the processing in the extrusion process.
