Airbus and Ferrovial join IndesIA, the artificial intelligence consortium of the Spanish industrial sector
With its addition of Airbus and Ferrovial, IndesIA gains the support of some of the country’s largest industrial companies in the consortium, and progresses toward its objective of developing big data technology and artificial intelligence (AI) applications that solve industrial sector challenges with a cross-company approach and which are applicable to the entire value chain.
This consortium stands out as the first to drive the data economy and artificial intelligence in the Spanish industrial sector. It is a catalyst project that aims to position Spain as a leader in the industrial use of data and AI and to galvanize the development of a new economy to boost the country's economic growth.
The goals of IndesIA include scaling the use of data and AI throughout the industrial sector value chain and improving its competitiveness through automation and optimization of industrial processes. It also aims to improve sustainability through energy efficiency, develop new materials with minimal environmental impact, and follow through on its commitment to the circular economy.
To make these goals a reality, the consortium is already working on various plans to identify big data and AI use cases, stimulate employability and qualified profiles to attract and retain technological talent in Spain, create a data and AI school to train sector professionals, develop an ecosystem of experts in AI research for the industrial sector (start-ups, research centers, universities, etc.), and reach agreements to facilitate access to cutting-edge technology related to big data and AI.
Airbus is a pioneer of a sustainable aerospace industry working toward a safe and united world. The company is constantly innovating to provide efficient and technologically advanced solutions in the aerospace, defense, and transportation sectors. Airbus joins IndesIA to take on the great challenges of industrial transformation in Spain through the collaboration between companies, the startup ecosystem, technology centers, and universities specializing in the research and development of AI solutions.
Ferrovial is a leading company in the development and operation of sustainable infrastructure. It is at the forefront of the implementation of AI solutions for managing their activities, reducing risks, maximizing opportunities in large projects, and automating and optimizing operations. As it joins IndesIA as a development partner, Ferrovial takes an additional step in seeking to drive competitiveness and sustainability in the sector, while promoting the generation of new platforms and digital talent through the use of data and AI.
Nuria Ávalos, director of IndesIA, leads and promotes the consortium, as well as works to make progress on the various initiatives that are already up and running. With extensive experience in executive positions linked to innovation, transformation, and digitization at Repsol, Ávalos is an expert in the creation and leadership of technological consortia and multi-company projects in Spain, Europe, and the United States. She is also a specialist in the construction of those ecosystems and collaborative environments necessary for their management and success.
Accenture will participate in the consortium as a value attainment partner to drive the execution of IndesIA initiatives, given its experience and knowledge in the use of big data and AI for transforming the industry. The consultancy will act as a facilitator to achieve the objectives of the consortium and will support partners, both large companies and SMEs, to achieve and measure the value of these technologies.
With these incorporations, IndesIA accelerates its growth and solidifies its position in the industry, permitting all companies in the country to speed up digitization, gain access to platforms and data necessary for the implementation of this technology, and increase the skills associated with currently existing digital profiles.
