  • The acquisition of Viesgo assets is aligned with our strategy for 2020, which includes the development of new activities connected to the energy transition through low-emission activities. This strategic update allows us to anticipate major tendencies such as the increase in power demand and the key role natural gas is to play in the energy transition.
  • Through the acquisition of Viego’s low-emission assets, we are now taking on hydroelectric plants in northern Spain with a capacity of 700 MW and great potential for organic growth. We’ve also acquired two combined cycle gas plants in Algeciras (Cádiz) and Escatrón (Zaragoza), with a combined capacity of 1,650 MW. Viesgo’s coal plants have been excluded from the transaction.
  • These new assets strengthen our position as a multi-energy supplier, turning the Company into a significant player in the Spanish energy market with 2,950 MW of total nameplate capacity (2,350 MW from the Viesgo plants and 600 MW from our current cogeneration plants). Our goal is to reach a low-emissions generation capacity of around 4,500 MW in 2025.
