Repsol Advance - Gravel emulsions

It is a mixture of a continuous-graded aggregate suitably wetted and bituminous emulsion with an approximate percentage of residual bitumen of 3% to 4%, which is spread and compacted at room temperature, and can also be stockpiled once it has been manufactured.

Properties and applications

The emulsion is formulated so that the binder envelops the entire aggregate, although it is often preferentially fixed to the fine particles of the granular material, forming a mortar very rich in binder that binds the coarse aggregates and consolidates them. Thus, in the structural behavior of the gravel-emulsion, the internal friction of a granular material is combined with the cohesion, flexibility, and impermeability of a bituminous mortar.
