Promoting excellence in research

HR Excellence in Research

In November 2021, the Repsol Technology Lab was recognized with the European “HR Excellence in Research” award.

This award, from the European Commission through the mechanism, "The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)," represents a recognition of Repsol's commitment to the development and continuous improvement of a human resources strategy for researchers in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

This recognizes that Repsol guarantees open and transparent hiring processes of researchers based on meritocracy and capabilities, and it also seeks to develop a favorable work environment for researchers to carry out their activity in the best conditions, which will result in more added value and to generate talent attraction for the Repsol Technology Lab.

CDP Climate Change

Since 2006, Repsol has been participating in the CDP, standing out as one of the top companies in energy and carbon management in its sector. In 2023, Repsol continues to be in the leadership band of the CDP Climate Change with a rating of A- (on a scale from A to D-), surpassing the global average (C) and the Oil & Gas sector average (B). Being positioned in the leadership band entails implementing the best practices regarding energy transition and climate change, defining a decarbonization strategy that considers climate-related risks and opportunities in line with TCFD recommendations, and integrating it into the Company's overall strategy.

Corporate Human Rights Benchmark

We have achieved the first position among the top 110 companies worldwide evaluated in 2023 from the extractive and textile sectors, plus the 127 largest companies from the automotive, food, and technology sectors assessed in 2022.

Every two years, the WBA conducts the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB), comparing companies by sector and providing a benchmark score. This is the most respected Human Rights recognition in the field, and Repsol is the first Spanish company to reach it.

In 2023, we have received an ESG Risk Rating of 25,9/100 and have assessed to be at medium risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors. Morningstar Sustainalytics through its ESG risk rating, evaluates companies and rates them on a scale of 0-100 by risk level (0 being the highest score).

As of 2023, Repsol received an MSCI ESG Rating of A. On a scale ranging from a maximum score of AAA to CCC, the result is determined according to exposure to industry-specific ESG risks and the ability to manage those risks relative to peers.

In 2023, the “Prime" rating places Repsol among the leading companies in its sector in 2023. ISS ESG analyzes sustainability performance from a best-in-class perspective, granting the “Prime” rating to sector-leading companies that meet the analyst-evaluated requirements.

Repsol has achieved a score of 4.2 in 2023, with 5 being the highest possible score. The Company is positioned in the 97th percentile within the Oil & Gas sector.

Repsol has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series since 2011, which measures the performance of companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in accordance with global standards. The FTSE4Good indexes are used by a wide variety of players in the market to create and evaluate responsible investment funds and other products.

Repsol has achieved a score of 66/100, outperforming its sector average of 48. This result demonstrates the Company's approach to integrating ESG factors into its strategy, promoting greater resilience and value creation.

Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI)

In 2023, TPI has rated Repsol for the sixth consecutive year with the highest rating (level 4, Strategic Assessment) in its Management Quality analysis, which assesses the quality of companies' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management, as well as the risks and opportunities in relation to the energy transition.

In 2023, Repsol has strengthened its leadership by maintaining the "100% Circular Strategy" voluntary certification granted by AENOR. This certificate corroborates our strong commitment to sustainability, reaffirms the importance of the Circular Economy, and continues to meet society's needs while minimizing the carbon footprint.

We won the OFISO 2022 Awards as a private company, for our track record in leadership in sustainable financing, financing green, social, and sustainable projects and activities. With this award, OFISO recognizes the commitment and efforts made over the years towards financing green and sustainable projects. This award helps us to continue being focused on our Net Zero Emissions by 2050 agenda, our roadmap for the coming years..

LEED Platinum Seal

Our headquarters, the Repsol Campus, is a 100% sustainable and accesible workplace, proof of which can be found in the most important international sustainability award which we've received from the US Green Building Council. Among its noteworthy aspects are its energy efficiency, use of alternative energy sources, and efficient water consumption.
