  • Affordable and clean energy We advocate universal access to secure, affordable, and low-emission energy. We materialize this by being part of renewable initiatives that, in addition to advancing the energy objectives that society requires, do not neglect the social and economic aspects.
    • 100% renewable diesel: Throughout 2024, we have deployed this fuel produced from organic waste (such as used cooking oil and agricultural and forestry waste) at more than 840 service stations.
    • Renewable energy: we invested €2.478 B in 2024 and reached an operating capacity of 3.7 GW in renewable electricity generation.
    • Electric mobility: in 2024, we reached a total of 2,800 total charging points on the Iberian Peninsula.
    • Self-consumption: we registered 579 facilities (355 individual self-consumption and 224 group self-consumption).
  • Decent work and economic growth The energy transition entails a multitude of challenges that we face by committing to quality employment and economic growth. In this effort, we adopt diversity and inclusion policies and foster work environments where everyone can feel safe.
    • We provide direct employment to 25,595 people in 20 countries.
    • We promote the economic growth of the societies in which we operate by working with 85% local suppliers.
    • We promote a safe working environment with 2,000 hours of safety training at 10 industrial centers.
    • We participate in 428 social projects, benefiting 2 million people.
    • We have more than 7,000 remote workers and 40% women in the company. With Fundación Repsol’s MOTOR VERDE project, we generate nearly 900 jobs in rural areas, including groups at risk of exclusion.
  • Climate action We want to play an important role in the energy transition, promoting sustainability and efficiency in our production processes in order to build a low-emissions future that is compatible with the Paris Agreement.
    • We continue to pursue our ambition to be a net zero emissions company by 2050.
    • We have reduced the Carbon Intensity Indicator by 13.4% compared to 2016.
    • We achieved 13.8% progress in our 2030 absolute emissions reduction targets (scopes 1, 2, and 3).
    • As part of our commitments, we are part of several international climate action initiatives such as: OGCI, OGMP, or IPIECA.
  • Clean water and sanitation We conduct water management that includes the use and supply of water throughout the life cycle of our operations, products, and services, and the long-term protection of available water resources, both onshore and offshore.
    • The internal development tool, Repsol Water Tool, allows us to identify and evaluate the material impacts, risks, and opportunities related to water in the company's own operations.
    • We have established water management objectives aligned with our Environment Policy, focused on reducing freshwater withdrawal:
      • For industrial centers located on the Iberian Peninsula, the ambition is to achieve net zero freshwater withdrawal by 2050 and a 30% reduction by 2035.
      • For the Marcellus asset in the United States, the ambition is to achieve net zero freshwater withdrawal by 2035, with an increase in water reuse of up to 5% by 2026 and 10% by 2030 and an action to regenerate the natural capital of the ecosystem in this environment.
    • 19.45 M m3 of recycled water and 2.83 Mm3 of reused water.
    • Since 2022, we have been a member of CEO Water Mandate, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact through which we reinforce our public commitment to continuous improvement in water management and transparent reporting of progress.
  • Industry, innovation and infrastructure We deploy specific projects and actions that respond to society's demands and bring us closer to the decarbonization objectives set by the company, while also contributing to strengthening industry, innovation, and infrastructures as fundamental pillars for sustainable development.
    • In 2024, we invested €68 M in our own R&D and €20.88 M in start-ups (85.6 % in low-carbon technology companies).
    • We promote technological innovation from the Repsol Technology Lab. Two initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint have been launched in 2024: the new Circular Economy Laboratory, with the purpose of developing new analytical technologies for waste raw materials and a Pilot Plant in which high value-added products are being generated.
    • Within "Horizon Europe" (Programme for Research and Innovation) we are carrying out the R3volution project in collaboration with other European companies. The aim of this project is to develop and demonstrate a technological solution to reuse more than 90% of industrial wastewater and recover value-added solutes, using advanced technologies.
  • Responsable production and consumption At Repsol we promote projects for eco-design, efficiency in production processes, the introduction of new forms of consumption of alternative materials to fossil fuels, and renewable energies.
    • We have recovered 33% of the total waste managed, with 1.38 Mt of materials reused or recycled.
    • We closed 2024 with a renewable fuel production capacity of 1.25 Mt/y and remain on track towards our target of 2.2 Mt/y by 2030.
    • Our polyurethane waste treatment plant, RecPUR (Puertollano), is capable of converting up to 200,000 mattresses into polyol each year, for the manufacture of new mattresses or other polyurethane applications, which contribute to our goal of manufacturing 150 Kt/y of circular or bio-based products by 2030.
    • With One-store, we apply the principles of the circular economy in the supply chain, analyzing both the demand and availability of stock of our spare parts and giving a second life to surplus materials by reusing or recycling them.
