As part of his European tour, Rafael Correa decided to visit the Repsol Technology Centre, one of the most renowned in Europe in terms of energy-related research.
The President of Ecuador was given a tour of several laboratories where Repsol carries out research concerning all of the company’s business units and that have been put into practice in Ecuador in Block 16.
More than 400 scientists and researchers work at the Repsol Technology Centre, which is involved in a number of research projects on both a national and international scale.
Located in Móstoles (Madrid), the centre is one of the most advanced in Europe and is Spain’s largest, spanning a constructed area of 56,000 m2. Repsol’s Further Training Centre is situated nearby, where several young Ecuadorians are studying master programmes specialising in the energy industry.
Repsol has been working in Ecuador since 2001 and also has an important role in corporate social responsibility through the Repsol Ecuador Foundation.
