Repsol YPF´s Executive Committee approved today the appointment of Jaume Giró Ribas as Corporate Director of Communication and Head of the Chairmans Office. This new position integrates the areas of Advertising, Sponsorship, Marketing, Corporate Identity, Cultural Sponsorship, Social Responsibility, Corporate Reputation, Communication and Institutional Relations, rationalising these responsibilities in a single corporate division. Grouping together these areas, which formerly belonged to various divisions, enables Repsol YPF to exploit the synergies existing between them, providing better instruments for the Company to achieve its goal of maximum efficiency and transparency in communicating with its distinct sectors of the public and interest groups.
The new Corporate Director of Communication was, until today, Corporate Director of External Relations and Head of the Chairmans Office at Gas Natural SDG, and a member of that companys Management Committee. A graduate in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra, Jaume Giró has exercised his profession as a journalist in various media organizations, and is the current Vice Chairman of the Asociación Española de Directivos de Comunicación (Spanish Association of Directors of Communication), Chairman of the Communication Committee of SEDIGAS (Spanish Association for the Study and Development of the Gas Industry), member of the Executive Committee of ENERCLUB (the Spanish Energy Club) and of the European Association, Intergas Marketing.
At the aforementioned meeting, the Repsol YPF Executive Committee also approved the appointment of Antonio Gomis Sáez as Deputy Director General of Repsol YPF´s Chemical Division.
Graduate in Chemistry at the Madrid Universidad Complutense, Mr. Gomis joined the Repsol Petrochemical Complex at Puertollano in 1974. Until recently, he was the Corporate Director of External Relations for Repsol YPF.
With experience as Director General for Energy at the Ministry of Industry, and Civil Servant at the International Energy Agency (OECD, Paris), he is currently Chairmam of the World Petroleum Congress Spanish Committee, and a member of ENERCLUB´s Executive Committee.

Graduate in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra, and holder of the ESADE diploma of Business Management, Jaume Giró began his professional career writing for the local press in Navarra and La Vanguardia newspaper. In 1987 he joined the Europa Press news agency, first as a journalist and later as Chief Economic Correspondent in Barcelona.
Three years later, Giró entered the business world as Head of Communication for Gas Natural SDG where he designed the communications strategy for the new company resulting from the merger of Catalana de Gas and Gas Madrid. He contributed decisively in the positioning of the Gas Natural Group in the sphere of Environment and the Home, and in fomenting a new corporate identity that was more daring and innovative than that of other European energy companies at the time.
In June 1991, Giró was appointed Director of External Relations for the Barcelona Division of Gas Natural SDG, and in 1994 was promoted to Corporate Director of External Relations for the Gas Natural Group, responsible for communication, advertising, sponsorship, corporate image and identity.
In 1995, Giró was also appointed Head of the Chairmans Office, first under Pedro Duran Farell, and then later under Antonio Brufau. In September 1996, he became a member of the Gas Natural Group Management Committee.
In addition to his professional duties, Giró is Professor of Business Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), at the ESADE, and for the Masters in Journalism Programme-BCNY, organised by the University of Barcelona and Columbia University. He has participated in several seminars on New Communications Technologies and has given talks on communication management and corporate reputation in national and international forums.
Jaume Giró is forty years old, married, with three children.
Graduate in Chemistry at the Madrid Universidad Complutense (Number One in his year and Special End of Career Award), Antonio Gomis also graduated in Business Management at the IESE Business School.
Having started his professional career in 1974 at the Repsol Petrochemical Complex in Puertollano, he moved on to the International Energy Agency-OECD in Paris, and then to the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Energy as Advisor to the Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources. He joined the National Institute of Hydrocarbons (INH) in 1986, where he was Director of the International and Institutional Relations Division for Repsol S.A.
From 1997 to 2000, Gomis was Director General of Energy at the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Energy. Has also served on the Board of Directors at several companies, including Repsol Química, S.A, Empresa Nacional de Residuos Radiactivos, S.A. (ENRESA), Hulleras del Norte, S.A. (HUNOSA) and Red Eléctrica de España, S.A.
From September 2000 to November 2004, Antonio Gomis was the Repsol YPF Corporate Director of External Relations, in charge of Communication and Corporate Image for the Company. Amongst other responsibilities, Gomis is Chairman of the World Petroleum Congress Spanish Committee, Vice Chairman of the Spanish Committee for the World Energy Council, and a member of the Executive Commission of ENERCLUB (Spain´s energy club).
Currently, Gomis is the Deputy Director General of Repsol YPF´s Chemicals Division.
