Our Artificial Turf Technical Conference unites the value chain

Chemical News 14/03/2023

We have organized a specialized Artificial Turf Technical Conference for the value chain of this polyolefin application, coinciding with the International Artificial Turf Congress 2023.

Artificial Turf Technical Conference attendees

The conference at the Repsol Technology Lab welcomed manufacturers of different artificial turf components, laboratories, and certifying companies. In it, our technical team has presented the sustainable solutions we may provide and has shown our portfolio of artificial grass products and our sustainability and innovation strategy.

The artificial turf sector is growing and requires a high-performance product subject to new developments. The current components for its manufacture are polyolefins, polyethylene, and polypropylene, in addition to rubber and sand, among others.

The conference was attended by about 20 companies, to which we showed our range of polyolefins and their use in the different components of artificial grass. We also presented the Alba project, which entails the construction of two new plants for 100% recyclable polymeric materials for applications in the pharmaceutical, automotive, and food industries, and which will allow us to support our clients in their sustainability, innovation, and growth strategies, including the artificial grass sector.

At the meeting, our partner ACTECO presented the different grass recycling projects they are developing with leading producers in the sector.

Lastly, we presented our roadmap and commitment to the polyolefin’s circular economy. We explained the transformation in which we are immersed, to achieve our goal of recovering a volume of plastic waste equivalent to 20% of our polyolefin production capacity by 2030, supporting our goal of being net zero emissions by 2050.
