Industry 5.0

Technologies for the new industry

Blockchain, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and cyber-physical systems are some of the technologies we work on to develop projects that provide greater security and productivity at our plants by avoiding physical presence in dangerous or remote sites and implementing intelligent automation solutions.

This process automation creates new and more efficient methods of organization, distribution, control, and knowledge, contributing to our goal of leading technological innovation and setting a benchmark for efficiency in Industry 5.0.

Improving work methods and environments through automation

We are working on various projects to apply Industry 5.0 to hardware (robots, etc.) and software (virtualization, blockchain, etc.)

Robots that help with daily tasks

The company's first AGV (Autonomous Guided Vehicle) is a collaborative robot that carries out logistical tasks like the distribution of daily samples between laboratories, the delivery of materials from storage, the disposal of waste, and more. It is capable of traveling between plants, opening doors, and arriving to all of the labs. It has a load capacity of 100 kg and an automatic-charging lithium battery that lasts 10 hours or 20 km.

Streamline the management of thousands of samples

The use of Blockchain also plays an important role in our vision of Industry 5.0 since it allows us to transmit critical information safely by ensuring its immutability and certifying its origin. Block lab is a project that creates digital equivalents of samples for certification, avoiding the inefficiency and costs associated with"redoing the work" and allowing the management of more than 100,000 samples a year.

Lab virtualization

Allowing remote access to laboratory resources

Until recently, any work performed at our laboratories was in-person, which made it difficult to share results or carry out control processes without being present in the actual facilities or without depending on physical support. At the Repsol Technology Lab, we are committed to virtualizing our laboratories so that our professionals have remote access to the analytic equipment and are able to carry out tests, consult, and manage information remotely.

AI Advising

We are developing advanced Artificial Intelligence projects that help us improve and optimize industrial processes. The pilot plants developed by the Repsol Technology Lab allow us to recreate scenarios like those that occur in the industrial facilities in order to easily and efficiently test and compare new technologies before taking the step to implement them at an industrial level, therefore reducing uncertainty and any issues that may occur during their development.
