Meeting with Josu Jon Imaz and the Pope at the Vatican

Participating in the Vatican Energy Transition Summit alongside the world's leading energy companies

Our CEO, Josu Jon Imaz, took part in a summit entitled “The Vatican Dialogues: The Energy Transition and Care for our Common Home” together with other executives from the world’s leading energy companies on June 14, 2019. The summit served as gathering to reflect upon various matters of relevance regarding climate change.

Climate change requires urgent action. Pope Francis and leaders of major energy companies discussed the most relevant aspects of moving towards a just energy transition that complies with the Paris Agreement, generates economic value, and improves the quality of life of people affected by climate change.

They also discussed other key issues, such as carbon pricing and the need for transparency. Our CEO, together with the other attendees, signed agreements on transparency of investments in the sector and carbon pricing.

 A new energy model

At Repsol, we share society's concern about the effects of human activity on the climate, and we work every day to be part of the solution. Safe, affordable, and clean energy is essential to the development of our society and all three factors must be taken into account in order to make an orderly energy transition to a lower carbon intensity that mitigates climate change.
