Partnerships for the goals
The most efficient way to contribute to the 2030 Agenda is by working alongside public and private entities to share knowledge and technology.
In line with Repsol’s commitment to combat climate change and drive the decarbonization of the economy, we are working to ensure that all the association and initiatives we are involved in are aligned in achieving the Paris Agreement objectives as well as complying with the Company’s key action lines regarding climate change.
We support sustainability initiatives including the United Nations Global Compact, the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, the Climate and Clean Air initiative, and Zero Routine Flaring by 2030.
We collaborate with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Organization of Iberia-American States on community development projects.
We work with universities, companies, and researchers to boost business proposals and ideas through the Repsol Foundation Entrepreneurs Fund, the Inspîre open innovation program, and with the investment in startups through Corporate Venturing.

Affordable and clean energy
We are firmly committed to providing cleaner, safer and more accsible energy and technologies that contribute towards economic and social development.
We are increasing the proportion of low-carbon energy by incorporating the production and marketing of electricity and gas into our business, and have set the objective of reaching an installed capacity of 7.5 GW by 2025.
As a result of our commitment to be increasingly efficient, for years we have been optimizing our processes to reduce energy consumption and emissions. Each year, we carry out around 150 projects aimed at improving energy efficiency.
We are committed to sustainable mobility: We use biofuels, promote shared mobility with Wible, and have more than 250 electric vehicle charging stations and over 700 AutoGas supply points.

Decent work and economic growth
We contribute to economic and social development by providing quality, safe, and inclusive employment throughout our entire value chain.
We directly employ over 24,000 people from over 70 different countries.
We contribute to economic growth and social development in the areas where we operate, and over 70% of the close to 5,000 providers we use worldwide are local.
We create a safe work environment and apply anticipatory safety and training programs for both Repsol employees and providers. We also set annual personal and process safety objectives.
We have social investment programs that amount to €20 million per year. For the 2021-2025 period, we have also set the goal to reach top quartile performance according to the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB).
We annually pay more than €9 billion in taxes and similar public charges in more than 35 countries.

Climate action
We want to play an important role in the energy transition, promoting sustainability and efficiency in our production processes in order to build a low-emissions future that is compatible with the Paris Agreement.
We are the first company to taken on the ambitious challenge to become net zero by 2050.
We have had GHG emissions reduction plans since 2006.
We have set the objective of reducing CO2e emissions by 1.5 Mt from 2021 to 2025.
We have established objectives to reduce routine flaring and methane emissions by 2025.
As part of our commitment, we are part of several international climate change initiatives such as the OGCI (O&G Climate Initiative), Climate and Clean Air Coalition, and Zero Routine flaring by 2030.

Clean water and sanitation
We follow an integrated water management approach to increase efficiency in the use of water resources and minimize our impacts.
Our Company uses the Repsol Water Tool to identify the risks associated with water resources in each asset and prioritize the measures to be implemented.
Our water management is fully integrated in our industrial centers and assets in the Refining, Chemicals, and Exploration & Production businesses.
Reused water accounts for more than 20% as against withdrawn water.

Industry, innovation and infrastructure
We use innovation to support the search for new ways of generating more sustainable sources of energy and transforming them more efficiently.
We foster open innovation at the Repsol Technology Lab through our own projects and collaborations with universities, companies, and researchers all around the world.
Through the Repsol Corporate Venturing fund, we invest in technological startups or innovative businesses to implement them in Repsol.
We invest approximately €70 million in R&D each year.
In our operations, we build infrastructures that contribute to the development of the communities where we operate.

Responsible consumption and production
We aim to manage in an integral and rational manner all natural resources, processes, and waste generated by our activity throughout our entire value chain.
We work to minimize the amount of waste generated and promote recycling and reuse.
We have set the goal of implementing circular economy projects in all businesses by 2020.
We have a Catalog of Circular Initiatives (CCI) with over 220 initiatives that we carry out through more than 180 partnerships.
We participate in more than 10 national and international working groups on circular economy.
We have signed the Spanish Pact on Circular Economy.
