Pillars of the model

Our sustainability commitment is integrated into the company's strategy and has the support and involvement of upper management. In this regard, we have set ourselves 10 major objectives for 2020 based on the six pillars of Repsol's Sustainability Model: ethics and transparency, people, safe operation, resource and impact management, climate change, and innovation and technology.

How we do it

To achieve these objectives, we rely on different policies developed by the company over more than a decade, which help us to include ethical, environmental, and social issues in the decision-making processes that govern our activities. Each year, these objectives are specified in our Global Sustainability Plan (GSP), where we define actions that bring us increasingly closer to our goals. The GSP is our road map. It informs the local plans we prepare for each country or complex, taking into account the specific circumstances and needs of each area where we operate. Additionally, as members of IPIECA's Executive Committee, we support the UN 2030 Agenda and contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Comply with the path toward the reduction of waste generated and the amount of waste sent to landfill sites, with incremental improvements each year in the ratio that is sent to landfill sites in all the Business Units.

Develop water action plans for Refining, Chemicals, and E&P that ensure the excellent management of water resources: minimize harvesting and the impact upon discharge and maximize recirculation.

Reach the highest level of best practices according to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR)*, taking companies from the sector as a reference. The assessment will be performed with the IGT (Implementation Guidance Tool) available on the VPSHR website

No cases of corruption in the activities carried out by the Repsol Group.

Inform all Repsol employees of what is expected of them in terms of prevention and the fight against corruption, as well as the mechanisms the company places at everyone's disposal to make queries or report possible breaches of the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and the Crime Prevention Model.
