Repsol in Greece

Greece is considered one of the countries with the greatest energy potential in southern Europe. The seas surrounding the country include the Sea of Crete to the south, the Aegean Sea to the east, and the Ionian Sea to the west, while it is bordered by Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia, and Bulgaria to the north.

We have been operating in Greece since 2017, where we own mineral rights to three onshore exploration blocks. In April 2019, we signed an exploration contract for the offshore block Ionian (located in the Ionian Sea to the north of Kefalonia and to the west of the islands of Lefkada and Corfu), thereby increasing our presence in this country. The block has a net surface area of 6,671 km2 and we hold a 50% working interest while the Greek company Hellenic holds the other 50%.
