Repsol offers a range of paraffin emulsions designed for food applications that comply with FDA regulations for products that come into contact with food.
They are prepared from a mixture of carefully chosen refined paraffins that have been treated to guarantee the best waterproofing performance. They have been emulsified with a selection of surfactants capable of ensuring maximum stability during transport and handling.
They are characterised by creating an excellent moisture barrier, great coverage capacity, stability for handling and storage and for showing an excellent resistance to hard water. They are especially suitable for coating all types of paper to wrap food, special decorative paper and wood or cardboard boxes to transport food, to manufacture bottle corks and, in general, for any type of application that may come in contact with food.
Repsol markets special waxes for the paper and cardboard industry in two different formats: liquid and solid. These coating products for paper/cardboard improve their water repellent properties and increase their mechanical resistance (hardness, resistance to pressure, etc.).

In liquid format (aqueous emulsion type) for cold application.
In solid format to be applied melted.
When foods like fruits and vegetables ripen, they eliminate water that may deteriorate the container they are in. Therefore, if the paper or cardboard are protected with an adequate coating, both the container and the food it contains are also protected.
Within this wide range of products each one is used with a specific application, such as:
Food Wrapping
Waxes for decorative papers
Coatings for paper/cardboard cups
Additives in paints, varnishes, and glues
Corrugated carboard
The methods to apply these products on paper and cardboard are the typical ones used in the industry to apply coatings.
Curtain
Scraper
Rotary cylinders or rollers
Anilox
Inmersion
