Chemical News 30/10/2019

We were present at K 2019, the plastic and rubber markets international fair, held from 16 to 23 October, in Dusseldorf. Via live talks delivered at our stand, we announced our latest news. Some of the topics introduced were related to the circular economy, 3D printing, weight lightening solutions for the automotive industry, food packaging, and healthcare.

We launched our new Repsol Reciclex® range, focused on increasing the volume of post-consumer recycled plastic in the market, in line with the commitment we acquired by adhering to the European Commission's Circular Plastics Alliance (CPA). This project requires agreements with different members of the value chain to guarantee homogeneous raw material for applications with high technical requirements, where the presence of recycled material has hardly penetrated yet.

Also, through our Zero project, we have been working to reintroduce synthetic oils from the chemical recycling of plastic waste, not recyclable in the traditional mechanical way, into our petrochemical processes. We became pioneers in 2015 by experimentally feeding these products on an industrial scale in our Puertollano complex.

We also presented our commitment to the program “Operation Clean Sweep®” (OCS), through specific actions, including the value chain, requiring over two million euros. We joined this international program in 2015, which aims at preventing plastic pellets loss and helping keep this material out of the marine environment.
