On May 23rd, 2017, Repsol attended a conference dedicated to surfaces and grading of low-traffic volume roads which was organized by the Ministry of Public Works of the Provincial Government of Badajoz.
Saturnino Alcázar Vaquerizo, Provincial Minister for Public Works, and Juan Moñino, Manager of Services, Works, and Infrastructure Maintenance of the Provincial Government of Badajoz, inaugurated and closed the event, respectively.
The purpose of this event was to present the most appropriate actions in the management and maintenance of low-traffic volume roads, which are the type of road managed by the Provincial Government as part of its 2014–2020 III Integral Road Plan.
Francisco Lucas and Lucía Miranda represented Repsol at the event, presenting the characteristics of different bituminous materials, emulsions, and bitumens, as well as the applications of both hot and cold mixes.
Given the characteristics of the roads in the province, the importance of choosing the appropriate actions and materials was highlighted. They should be adapted to the traffic and weather conditions, among other factors, to optimize resources in terms of the costs and maintenance work to be carried out, thereby keeping the roads in tip-top condition for the longest time possible.
Following the presentation, the floor was opened up to debate and attendees had the chance to ask questions.
