“Individuals score points, but teams win games," Zig Ziglar. And I'm part of the best team in the world: team@Repsol. Thank you for being here on this beautiful day when I have received my medal from @aecarretera. This is dedicated to all of you." This is how our colleague described how he felt on Twitter after receiving his award. He illustrated the tweet by adding a picture of the Rlesa Asphalts team that joined him at the ceremony.
Francisco Lucas, or Curro Lucas "as he is known both in and out of the sector," as we were told before he received the award, is the Senior Technical Assistance and Development Management for the Asphalts area Business. He is now also the holder of the Road Medal of Honor.
This award from the Spanish Road Association (AEC) is over half a century old and aims to recognize the work of professionals and institutions to improve roads, their quality, comfort, efficiency, technology, and safety. In Curro Lucas's case, they wanted to recognize his work to raise awareness, above all his role in the development of social networks and new communication tools in the roads sector. "He is currently one of the main Spanish-speaking civil engineering influencers worldwide," they said.
Before our colleague took to the stage to accept his award, he was described as someone that's always willing to help: "Curro Lucas is a great friend of ours," said the presenter, "and has helped the Association, always representing Repsol in all types of meetings, committees, or publications."
But his collaboration with the AEC in representation of our Company is just the beginning. As was briefly mentioned, until recently he was chairman (for the second time) of the Technical Association of Bitumen Emulsions (ATEB), where he was in charge of communication and external relations for seven years. He also coordinated the Road Surface work groups of the Technical Road Association; he is a member of the Spanish Association of Asphalt Mix Manufacturers and of the Evaluation Committee for the prestigious International Award on Road Innovation; and he was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the bitumen manufacturer Eurobitume. He also takes part in other sector forums and commissions related to standardization.
