Repsol makes three new gas discoveries in Algeria

Press Release 26/01/2009 17:32
  • Repsol makes its fourth gas discovery in the Reggane Basin, one of the most prolific in the Algerian part of the Sahara desert.
  • Repsol also finds gas in the Ahnet basin, adjacent to Reggane.
  • The third discovery was made in the Gassi Chergui area in central Algeria.
  • Initial test flows totalled more than 1 million cubic metres/day (0.4 bcm/year).
  • Repsol is the operator of all the exploration wells.
  • The test flows confirm Algeria as one of the areas with most exploratory potential for gas in North Africa.
  • This consolidates Reggane's position as one of Repsol's main areas for future growth in gas production.
