Repair work, including boiler and boiler tube cleaning, chipping and scraping, is prohibited on any Vessel unless the permission of the Terminal Representative has been obtained in writing, and a hot work permit issued by the Terminal. If granted, a list of specified repairs and a list of shore workmen employed on the Vessel must be given to the Terminal Representative before work commences. Only emergency repairs will be permitted at any time while berthed.
Repairs to electrical equipment i.e. radios, radar and outside electrical systems must be under the permission of the Terminal, and will not be permitted during the loading operation.
Work involving temperatures sufficiently high to cause ignition of flammable gas. This includes welding, chipping, sandblastting, burning riveting and high speed drilling.
The opening and closing of hatches, disconnecting and connecting of loading arms and any other operation on deck involving metal instruments, shall be carried out in a manner that avoids the generation of sparks.
Immediate steps must be taken to eliminate sparking from funnels or engine exhaust, even if it means temporarily extinguishing fires or shutting down engines.
The burners, tubes, uptakes, exhaust manifolds and sparks arresters, should be in good working condition and clean to avoid sparks. The Spanish Government is very strict on air pollution by smoke and any Vessel infringing these instructions will be subjected to severe penalties in accordance with the law.
