Construction

In Northern European countries, nearly a quarter of all energy consumption is for home heating. Plastic's insulating properties can - and in fact are- considerably reduce this consumption.
It's a proven fact that 50 kilos of plastic insulating material save 150 litres of heating fuel a year.
The second largest plastic-consuming market is construction, which makes up 15.1% of total plastic consumption, with consumption increasing by 1.7%. This is due to the fact that plastic reduces production costs on a large series of pieces, while saving energy thanks to its low weight, great features and insulating properties.
Additionally, behind the walls, under the floors and above the ceilings there are many types of pipes with special plastic characteristics that allow for water and gas piping, and electrical and communication wires. Likewise, paint, waterproofing of floors and ceilings, sealants, materials for the doors, frames, and windows - these are all made of plastic.
