The Repsol grades dedicated to this application present some peculiar characteristics that confer to the container a very high resistance to impact, as well as an excellent elastic recovery from the deformation originated during the sterilization process carried out in a tower or autoclave and from the stacking loads during the period of bottle storage.

Also, they incorporate a package of additives that allows them to retain their resistance properties and elongation at rupture, after having been subjected to the sterilization process. Pigments like the TiO2 can be added specially when resin is used in co extrusion.

Repsol has developed a new grade called Alcudia 5703L. It is suitable for the manufacture of milk bottles of aseptic filling. This product allows for high production speeds. Given its high density, it contributes the necessary rigidity.

In each case, careful control is made of the influence of the additives and pigments in the process and in the organoleptic properties.

The additives incorporated make them especially apt for contact with food products in general and with dairy products in particular. They use only substances and monomers authorised and listed in Directive 2002/72 and its subsequent modifications (Directives 2004/1, 2004/19, 2005/79, 2007/19 and 2008/39) which correspond to Spanish legislation Royal Decree 118/2003.

The resins also fulfil the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulation. Code of federal regulation - Title 21§ 177.1520.

The current trend in containers is towards diversification, going from the classic bottle of 1 litre in natural Hdpe (grades 4810 and 6006-L) to the white bottle, of different sizes in two modalities, monolayer and multilayer, the last one obtained by trilayer co extrusion (white, black and white).
