Properties

In order to obtain an optimal utilization of these products, it is important to know the properties of the agricultural compounds and of the products. The election, for example, of the most suitable mulching film for an exploitation can represent a very considerable increment in the profitability of the exploitation.

In the specific case of greenhouses, the fundamental properties that the farmer keeps in mind are:

Duration: It should be the adequate one in order that the film may present during all its life the properties that permit an optimum plant growth.

Mechanical: The mechanical properties should permit an appropriate installation and resistance to physical and meteorological impacts.

Radiometric:

  • PAR Radiation: It should be as large as possible since it is the one that the plants use to produce organic matter and therefore the harvests.
  • Diffusion of light: In places with slight cloudiness, it should be as large as possible to allow a better distribution of light in the greenhouse.
  • Thermal properties: It is the capacity that films have of retaining inside the greenhouse the long infrared radiation that is responsible for cooling during the night.
  • Other radiometrical properties: Ultraviolet radiation and Near Infrared

Anti-drip: This property refers to the capacity that some films present to keep water from condensing in the form of drops that reduce its luminous transmission.
