REPSOL YPF ACQUIRES A POLYPROPYLENE PLANT IN TARRAGONA

Repsol YPF and Basell have formalised, having obtained the approval of the Spanish authorities, the purchase by Repsol YPF of 50% of the Dutch companys stake in Transformadora de Propileno AIE, which includes a polypropylene plant in the Tarragona Petrochemical Complex.
With a production capacity of 160,000 tonnes, the plant, in which Repsol YPF already owned a 50% stake, manufactures block and random copolymers for speciality products like automotive parts, household goods, pipes and packaging.
This purchase represents an 18% increase in Repsol YPFs polypropylene production capacity, it strengthens its presence in the European polyolefin business and constitutes a further step in one of its principal lines of growth.
