Celebrating Chemistry
The United Nations has declared 2011 as the International Year of Chemistry, as a way of globally celebrating the achievements in chemistry and its contributions to the well-being of humankind.
Under the slogan, “Chemistry – our life, our future”, commemorative activities will be held throughout 2011 across the world, in different fields and for audiences of all ages, in celebration of the International Year of Chemistry. The aim of these activities is to show the general public how chemistry contributes to the sustainability of our lifestyle, resolving global problems of primary importance to humankind, such as food, water, health, energy and transport. A video will be shown at all of these activities, which has been developed by EPCA (European Petrochemical Association), of which Repsol is a member, in association with UNESCO and IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry).
This video was presented at the opening ceremony of the International Year of Chemistry held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
