Types of filters
As each new stage develops, our experts check that the product continues to be void of the two elements already mentioned. JET also goes through various filtration processes to ensure that all water and solid particles are eliminated.
Two different types of water and solid filters are used:
- Coalescent separator filters: Applicable in port terminals, intermediate storage spaces and airports. There are two stages; the first eliminates solids and coalesces the water, with a great deal being deposited in the bottom of the filter. The second stage filters off the water that has not been decanted in the coalescing process and at the end of the filtration a clean, dry product is obtained.
- Monitoring filters: Also known as absorbent filters, they are composed of several layers, some of which stop solid pollutants from passing and others contain a dehydrated gel which, on contact with water, acts as a fuse, absorbing the water and blocking the flow of any more of the product. These are used in dispenser vehicles and refuelling units. This is the last filtration before the fuel is loaded onto the aircraft.
