Periodical service
Why carry out periodical service?
Butane gas installation

Your safety is the main reason for checking your installations.

For this purpose, current regulations state that all owners of bottled Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) installations are responsible for maintaining them in safe conditions.

To be exact, Royal Decree 919/2006 of July 28th, which approves the regulations on LPG distribution and use in Article 7, determines the obligation on the part of the owner of the installation owner, or in the absence thereof, the user, to carry out Periodical Service.

How to keep my installation properly maintained.

As the owner or user of an installation operating on butane or propane cylinders, you are subject to the obligations stipulated in Article 7 of the technical regulations on the distribution and use of LPG, approved in Royal Decree 919/2006 of July 28th.

These obligations are basically as follows:

  • To have the installation checked regularly, for which you must request the services of an authorised gas-installation company. The periodical checking must take place every four to five years, depending on the region of Spain you live in.
  • To replace all elements of the installation with expiry dates, within the specified period of time.

We also suggest you follow these simple safety guidelines:

  • The flexible cord must not come into contact with the back of the oven, or any other heat source.
  • Ventilation is indispensable when gas appliances are in operation. Do not block vents or cover them with any object.
  • Take into account that the flame reflects the quality of the combustion: if this is good, the flame should be bright, stable and bluish. If the flame is noisy, unstable and has yellow tips, have the devices checked by the manufacturers' technical assistance service.

If you can smell gas, do not light any flame or turn on any switches: close the valve, ventilate the room and phone our Emergency Service on 901 12 12 12.

Comments on stoves, barbecues, paella cookers and others

You are not obliged to carry out periodical inspections if the bottles you contract are to be used in portable appliances such as stoves, barbecues or paella cookers.

However, in the interest of your own safety, we advise you to change any elements with expiry dates within the specified period, and to carry out preventive maintenance.
