LPG for camper vans

Fuelling camper vans is another important use for LPG nowadays.

As stated in Spanish law RD 919/2006 (July 28) and technical fuel distribution and use regulation ITC-ICG 10 (regarding Liquid Petroleum Gas Systems for domestic use in caravans and camper vans), once the installation certificate has been issued, the system is approved for use.

From that point on, the camper van system’s owner can request LPG bottles from the Agency.

The documents necessary to apply for the caravan and camper van certification are:

  • The camper van’s vehicle registration documents and technical data sheet.
  • Installation certificate issued by authorised installation company, proving that the installation meets all standards. This certificate must contain all the information in Appendix I of ITC-ICG 10 Model IRV. Or, a Periodic Check Certificate  containing all the information in Appendix II Model IRV-2 of RD 919/2006.

The legal residence appearing in the contract must be the same as that in the camper van’s vehicle registration documents; that is, the mobile home and the camper van owner’s address. The licence plate number and chassis number must also be stated.

The owner or, failing that, the users of the LPG equipment will be responsible for its maintenance, following the criteria set in regulation RD 919/2006. The equipment must always be serviceable and in line with safety regulations.
