The Autonomous Communities' Public subsidy programmes for investment in energy efficiency, part of the 2008-2012 Action Plan (PAE4+) by the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE: http://www.idae.es/), grant subsidies to reduce the extra costs for alternative vehicles compared to traditional vehicles which are equivalent in design and engine specification.
For acquiring new vehicles which run on Autogas (LPG: Liquefied Petroleum Gas):
> For cars and vans under 3,500 kg in M.A.M.: up to 2,000 €.
> For vehicles with M.A.M. of 3,500 kg and above: up to 12,000 €.
> For converting petrol vehicles to run on LPG: up to 450 €.
Up to 15% of the vehicle purchase price.
The IDAE has also signed an agreement with various rental companies associated with the Spanish Rental Association (AER) to support the incorporation of more energy efficient vehicles which have been purchased to formalise rental contracts within the national scope. For LPG vehicles, the IDAE provides 1,200 € per vehicle.
