Hotel and catering sector

Restaurants and hotels both offer customer service, which requires satisfying, amongst other things, the energy needs associated with the kitchen. It is a sector of interest for propane gas, due both the high energy consumption and the fact that establishments are so widespread. Many are far from any town or city. It is a rapidly growing sector.

Unless otherwise stated we will be discussing restaurants and hotels that are not located in cities, and that do not have the option of using natural gas.

Restaurants

Restaurants are food service establishments. Thus, the basic centre of any restaurant is its kitchen. Given that gas burners are standard in industrial kitchens, practically all restaurants use propane gas. What is important is to make the most of this situation by meeting the restaurant's other energy needs with propane gas. For example, with:

  • Other kitchen apparatuses
  • Hot sanitary water (h.s.w.)
  • Heating
  • Refrigeration

Hotels

The energy needs of the hotel sector are similar to those of the restaurant sector, except that the energy demands for HSW, heating or air conditioning are higher. Consequently, these needs are normally met with specific energy solutions- generally using gas oil and/ or electricity. We must also factor in the other energy needs, such as for laundry, heating pools, etc, that have diverse energy solutions, each with it own advantages and disadvantages.
