The entry admission deadline has been set for May 2010

The Terms and conditions of the III Edition of the "International Juan Antonio Fernández del Campo Award for Road Innovation" were publicly presented in Madrid on the 10th of June.

III International Juan Antonio Fernández del Campo Award for Road Innovation

The Spanish Road Association Foundation (FAEC) has organised this competition for the purposes of contributing to developing road technology all over the world, encouraging studies and research into Roads which boost innovation within the sector. This is how Miguel Mª Muñoz explained it, President of the FAEC and the Award Management Committee, in the ceremony held in the College of Road, Channel and Port Engineers.

The President of the Jury, José Luis Elvira Muñoz, made mention of the technical quality of the entries presented in the last edition, in which 24 pieces competed. Their research teams made up a total of 65 authors, from Latin American countries including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Venezuela, in addition to Spain, France, Canada and the United States.

José Luis Elvira indicated that the make-up of the Jury of the new Award is similar to the one two years prior, highlighting the recent inclusion of Professor Félix Edmundo Pérez Jiménez, replacing Rafael Izquierdo de Bartolomé, who could not combine this activity with his complete devotion to the NGO Desarrollo y Asistencia that he presides.

In the III Edition of the “International Juan Antonio Fernández del Campo Award for Road Innovation”, the Jury will again assess the contribution of the road technology development work, paying particular attention to originality in research and their innovative features, their quality and the excellence of the solutions they include, as well as the potential for practically implementing their conclusions. The entry admission deadline has been fixed for May 2010.

In addition to the international public recognition entailed in this award, there is a financial contribution of 12,000 euros for the winning project. This prize money is exempt from Income Tax, as per the Regulation dated 24 April 2008 by Spain’s Tax Administration Agency.

The initiative is sponsored by Banco Caminos, CEPSA-Proas and Repsol, the government collaboration of the State Road Office in the Community of Madrid Transport and Infrastructure Department, and the business collaboration of Dragados, Oficemen (Spanish Cement Manufacturer Group), Acciona Infraestructuras, Eiffage Infraestructuras, Euroconsult, FCC Construcción, Ferrovial Agromán, Grupo Isolux Corsán, OHL and Sacyr.
