According to data from Anfac and Ganvam - Asociaciones de Fabricantes y Vendedores Associations of Manufacturers and Dealers - the industrial vehicle market shtank by 7.3% in February, if compared to the same month in 2009. Falling sales continue but the ever larger falls have moderated, but there is still a lot of preoccupatins in the sector.

With this the latest fall in sales of industrial vehicles, recorded in February, the aggregate sales figures in the first two months of 2010 have fallen by 7.6%, compared to the same period in 2009. The latest fall was a little more moderate than those seen in this sector over recent months though. One should remember that February 2009 saw a fall of 73.5% compared to the same period in 2008.

Turning to the different niches in the industrial vehicle sector, rigid vehicles and industrial tractors fell in the first two months of the year by 4.2% and 5% respectively. Sales of light and mdium-sized vehicles dropped by 23.9% and 11.8% at the start of the year, compared to the same period in 2009.

Sources at Anfac and Ganvam, insist that what the sector of industrial vehicles needs is the approval of measures to boost demand, because at this moment in time the current situation in the construction sector is combined with contracting industrial production and problems finding financing, all of which are significant brakes on the development and recovery of the industrial vehicle market.
