According to data made public by Anfac and Ganvam, the associations of manufacturers and dealers, sales of light commercial vehicles grew by 25.6% in February if compared to the figures that were recorded during the same month in 2009.

February closed with the number of registrations of light commercial vehicles up to 9 871 units. This figure is 25.6% higher than the figures from the same month back in 2009. The first two months of 2010 have brought a total of 15 787 units registered, which is an upturn of 10.7% compared to 2009.

Referring to the different niches in the market, sales of MPVs, vans and pick-ups rose by 40% compared to 2009. The aggregate figures for the year, that is January and February, have risen to 11 776 vehicles sold in this sector. As for vans and light chassis vehicles, the evolution during the month of February is similar, to a large extent, to the figures seen in 2009. During February there was a rise of 1.6%.

It is worth mentioning the fact that the positive figures that were recorded in the light commercial vehicle sector in February were caused by the increase seen in the van sector. Sources at the two associations, Anfac and Ganvam, remind the public that that in spite of the good news the figures recorded in February are relative if they are compared to the data from last year and to 2008.
