The first month of the year saw a fall of 19.6% in the sales of commercial vehicles compared to 2011. A total of 5 639 units were sold in January according to the figures released by the manufacturer`s and dealer`s associations (Anfac and Ganvam) in this sector.
Anfac and Ganvam estimate that sales of this type of vehicle account for 10% of the Spanish market. The latest figures calculated by the two associations indicate that sales in this sector did not reach 104 000 units during 2012.
A breakdown by niche shows that sales to the self-employed (autónomos) dropped by 8.1% in January. Something that can be explained by, above all, a lack of credit available to those working in this sector. According to the latest figures, more than 75% of purchases use financing.
Referring to company purchases, the number of vehicles registered fell by 17.6% in the first month of the year, that is with sales of 3.245 units, whilst purchases by rental companies fell by 44.7%.
