The first flying car is here
It is called the Transition and it is the first flying car, and it should be available next year with a price of around €132 000. This “car”, which has four wheels just like any other, has folding wings with a span of over 8 metres and a propellor at the rear. It has a range of around 740km and a top speed of 185km/h.
Anniversary for General Motors
General Motors, the car manufacturing group, is one hundred years old this September. This company was the world`s market leader for a long time but in the last few years has been something of a fading star and with some financial problems at this momentous moment in its history. GM has taken advantage of of this anniversary to launch the latest version of the Chevrolet Volt, the company`s latest product.
The Salón Retromóvil 2009 is back in Madrid
The Salón del Automóvil de Época, Clásico y Deportivo – Vintage, Classic and Sports Car Show – will be held once again at the Ifema Exhibition Centre in Madrid, starting in 2009. This is because an agreement has been signed between the bosses of the Ifema Exhibition Centre and the organisers of the event. The Retromóvil show had been transferred to the Casa de Campo area in Madrid for the last few years after it was created in 1996, when it was held at the Ifema Exhibition Centre in Madrid. This agreement means that the Ifema is now one of the leading exhibition centres for the car sector.
10 000 orders for the new Mercedes GLK off-road
The German firm Mercedes-Benz has so far received over 10 000 orders for its new compact off-road in little over a month, this will be the fifth car with these characteristics. The company has acknowledged that the public has given this new model a good reception since it was put on sale on 30th June.
Europe stops buying cars
The low number of car sales in Spain during the first six months of 2008 can now be extrapolated to the rest of Europe, because countries like Italy have also experienced significant falls – 19.5% lower compared to last year. Good customers for the cars produced in Spanish factories, such as France and Germany, have also seen sales plummet in the first half of the year.
