Barcelona was one of the venues chosen for the start of the XV edition of the Historic Monte-Carlo Rally, 49 cars participated as they start off on a journey that will take them to the finishing line in Monaco. This rally which will last seven days will finish on Sunday 5th February.

The current economic situation has modified Spaniards` driving habits. This can be seen in the study entitled “Spanish drivers in the crisis 2011”, recently presented by Fesvial (Fundación Española para la Seguridad Vial – Road Safety Foundation), with support from Seguros Pelayo - Pelayo Insurance.

According to the latest report published by the Home Office - Ministerio del Interior - the number of accidents on Spanish roads continued to fall in 2011. In spite of a fall of 14% in the number of accidents on conventional highways this type of road still accounts for 79% of all fatal accidents.
