Repsol today presented its Guide to Accessibility in Service Stations, another example of the company’s firm commitment to integrating individuals with disabilities.

The presentation took place today in the Repsol Headquarters, in a ceremony presided by the company’s Executive Director of Marketing Europe, Pascual Olmos, and the First Executive Vice chairman of the ONCE Foundation, Alberto Durán López, who was also accompanied by Downstream Executive Director, Pedro Fernández-Frial.

The Guide proposes a set of regulations which serve as guidelines for facilitating and improving access to service stations for individuals with disabilities, and makes an in-depth analysis of the aspects which should be taken into consideration in building these facilities to ensure that construction is carried out as per accessibility criteria.

Repsol is a pioneer company in adapting its selection and layout in service stations to customers with mobility problems and other limitations, a culture which is present in all company activities. The company has become a reference point in Spain in view of its continual effort to maintain accessibility standards in service stations and its own offices.

As such, Repsol already has two service stations which have been adapted according to global accessibility criteria: one in Móstoles (Madrid) and the other in Zaragoza. These service stations incorporate design criteria for all in addition to a management system which has been granted an AENOR Global Accessibility certificate as per Standard UNE 170001. These are the first two service stations in Spain to have this AENOR certificate.

Repsol and individuals with disabilities

Repsol has a long history of developing projects which promote equal opportunities and integration for all groups in society, in particular those which most need it and which encounter the most difficulty in accessing the labour market. For Repsol, the integration of individuals with disabilities goes beyond the legal obligations and is based on a conviction that the company is enriched by the contribution of individuals with disabilities, who bring added value to the company.

The company has a total of 544 employees with disabilities. In Spain, 357 of them are employed directly and another 47 through alternative measures, comprising 2% of the staff. Repsol is the only Ibex company to exceed this percentage of employees with disabilities in its total staff.

In 2009, the company presented its White Paper for Recruiting Disabled People, a pioneering initiative in Europe which aims to offer a procedure guide to enable the standardisation and improvement of recruitment processes and to manage the diversity of these employees.
