For the third consecutive year, Repsol remains in the Climate Leadership Index (CLI), in which are included the best 30 companies found in the Financial Times 500 (FT500) for their strategies and transparency policies in fighting climate change.
In 2008, Repsol is among the three top companies in the oil and gas industry, and is the only oil company that has continued in the top three positions in its industry for the last three years.
In order to be included in this index, Repsol has had a positive rating in ten key areas, such as investing in new technologies for reducing emissions, reporting and management of emissions and investments in energy efficiency measures, among others.
The company's Chairman, Antonio Brufau, highlighted that "Repsol will continue on the same track of transparency, sustainability and corporate responsibility, areas which society values more and more." For the third consecutive year, Repsol is included in the global sustainability indexes DJSI World (Dow Jones Sustainability Index World) and European DJSI STOXX (Dow Jones Sustainability Index STOXX), where the company has obtained the maximum score for climate change strategies in the industry second consecutive year.
The Climate Leadership Index (CLI), calculated yearly based on the results of the Coal Disclosure Project (CDP), is the most important analysis worldwide that measures the responses to climate change of the FT500 companies that trade on the New York stock exchange.
