Repsol in Cuba

Since 2001, Repsol has been active in this country through an Exploration Contract (PSC) in deep Cuban waters.

  • Repsol has 7 exploratory areas in waters with depths of between 1,500 and 1,900 metres. The net area extends to 2,108 Km2 and is governed by the same contract.       

Repsol is an operator in these Cuban businesses with a 40% share; Satoil has 30% and OVL 30%.

E&P milestones

  • In January 2010, Repsol signed the rental contract with the Saipem company for the use of the Scarabeo-9 drilling equipment, which meets all the technical specifications and restrictions established by the United States administration for drilling operations in Cuba.
  • On 31st January 2012, drilling was begun on the exploratory well Jagüey.
