Gas Natural SDG in the world

On 3 July 2008, Gas Natural SDG acquired the gas distribution group Pitta Costruzioni, which operates in the region of Puglia, in southern Italy. This group has a licence to distribute natural gas in 11 municipalities, where it has 15,000 customers and a distribution network of 393 kilometres. With this operation, Gas Natural SDG has increased its distribution area in Italy to 187 municipalities in 8 regions: Molise, Abruzzo, Puglia, Calabria, Sicilia, Basilicata, Campania and Lazio. 

In Italy, Gas Natural SDG reached the figure of 414,125 supply points in the gas distribution business after incorporating 23,033 new supply points in 2009. The gas distribution activity stood at 3,495 GWh, an increase of 19.2% over 2008. 

In Latin America, Gas Natural SDG distributes gas in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico and in 2009 it reached the figure of 5.42 million gas distribution supply points in the area. During the year it maintained its high year-on-year growth rates with an increase of 169,164 supply points, above all in Colombia, where there was an increase of 105,197 points and total customer numbers exceeded 2 million. 

Gas sales in Latin America, grouping sales of gas and third-party access services to the network, came to 169,612 GWh. This is an 18.6% fall over the previous year's figure, mainly caused in the electricity generation and industrial markets. The distribution network increased by 1,119 kilometres in 2009, to reach 62,315 kilometres, a growth of 1.8%.
