Opening roads with our Business Plan 2010

A tree was planted by each of the Business Plan assistants in the Dehesa de Solanillos in Guadalajara.

Opening roads with our Business Plan 2010

Over 1,493 employees from different areas in 6 countries took part in the customary International Convention of the Executive Board for Marketing Europe (DEME), which this year was organised with the slogan “Opening roads”, in a new interactive and technological remote format, including initiatives to encourage our company culture of balancing work and family life and being respectful towards the environment.

This activity was in keeping with a new philosophy linked to an altruistic concept which draws a parallel with nature, based on the origin of plant life in a seed which opens roads to the future, which grows stronger day by day to break through barriers, grow and innovate, offering a vital and safe energy in harmony with the environment.

The European event last March was transmitted by videoconference to the different offices. This year there was an innovation in the gift normally given to attendees, making a contribution to society by planting a tree in the Dehesa de Solanillos in Guadalajara, an area devastated by a serious forest fire.

The Executive Board of Marketing Europa decided that for every attendee to the Business Plan a tree would be planted, identified with a wooden label made from the remains of the burnt trees, personalised with the first name of each participant attending in person or by remote means, with a certificate of sponsorship indicating the GPS position of the new tree.

Savings, balance and technology

This new model of International Convention enabled not only a very large cost reduction, in keeping with the year's objectives, but also efficiency and avoiding travel, reducing carbon emissions and minimising time spent, and putting forward a new way of working to better reconcile this with participants' personal lives.

The savings obtained with the new model have, moreover, led to practical improvements to adapt to new situations, such as buying videoconference equipment for offices which did not yet have it, installing new applications enabling us to browse in new 3D settings and the setting up of another more efficient and interactive communication format.
