LPG: Liquefied petroleum gas

Repsol is one of the world's top LPG retail and distribution companies and the market leader in Spain and Latin America. It has a presence in ten countries in Europe, North Africa and Latin America. Total LPG sales in 2008 stood at 3.22 million tonnes, which represents a fall of 5.3% against the previous year. It is worth noting that sales increased by 9.3% in Peru thanks to the development of the market. Sales in Spain fell by 1.9% against the previous year.

In Spain, Repsol distributes bottled, channelled and bulk LPG through collective distribution networks and has around 10 million bottled-LPG clients, supplied via a network of 522 distribution agencies. Of the total LPG retail sales in 2008, bulk sales represented 39%.

In Portugal, Repsol distributes bottled and bulk LPG to the end customer and supplies other operators. In 2008 is had sales of 184,199 tonnes, making the company the third-biggest operator with a market share of 21%. In Latin America, Repsol is the leading provider of LPG in Argentina, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. In the Argentinian retail market, Repsol sells bottled and bulk LPG for domestic, commercial and industrial use, with sales of 325,836 tonnes.

In November 2008, the 51% shareholding in the company Repsol YPF Gas de Bolivia S.A. was sold, leading Repsol to abandon bottling and bulk marketing activity in Bolivia.
