The annual date in Jerez is one of the most attractive and colourful in the Spanish calendar. Passion, fun, fiesta, etc. Many adjectives are used by the riders to try and capture what this race means to them, perhaps it is simply the one with the best atmosphere in the world. The truth is that the Spanish GP fills the stands and the surroundings of Jerez de la Frontera with colour and noise.

Practically all riders reckon that this race is different. Above all for the Spanish riders who can feel their fans pushing them along. This race weekend has now become an authentic motorbike and biker festival for all of the country, it goes beyond mere competition. Thousands of motorbike owners go to Jerez from all over the Iberian peninsula to enjoy their motorbike worship with a greater passion.

And so, Jerez de la Frontera becomes their Mecca once every year, thousands of fans make the pilgrimage to fill the circuit with their racing colours. The fiesta begins on the Friday on the streets of the provincial capital and over the whole weekend the party atmosphere rules the streets. In the end the streets are left deserted for the race on the Sunday, a race that attracts 250 000 people to the circuit – the one with the biggest capacity in the MotoGP calendar.

This is one of Dani Pedrosa`s favourite circuits because in addition to racing in front of a partisan crowd he admits that you cannot feel the fans anywhere else “like you do in Jerez”. A victory is enjoyed more here than anywhere else, and as the Repsol Honda rider who has already won here knows it “the victory euphoria” is infectious and “only the fans in Jerez can make you feel this way”.
