The FIM (Federation International de Motociclisme) has recently published a provisional list of the riders in both the 250cc as well as 125cc categories. In total there will be eleven Spanish riders competing in the two categories; a show of power which demonstrates just how well the rider training schemes are working in Spain.

In 250cc Álvaro Bautista will be trying to conquer the world title once again after finishing second in 2008 behind the Italian rider Marco Simoncelli. Another three Spanish riders will be trying to get in the title fight in this category after having put in some very consistent performances last season: Alex Debón, Héctor Barberá and Aléx Espargaró.

Spanish riders dominate the smallest category, that is to say 125cc, where they make up the majority with seven of them down to race. Esteve Rabat, Pol Espargaró, Nico Terol, Julián Simón, Sergio Gadea, Marc Márquez and Pere Tutusaus will make the dominant language of the pack Spanish.

A lot of eyes and attention will be on the very young Repsol rider Marc Márquez who will begin his second season with the professionals next year. He will be out to confirm that he is one of the most promising riders in this sport.
