This season, Marc Márquez is demonstrating that he is one of the most promising up and coming Spanish riders. The Spanish rider finished sixth last weekend in the Indianapolis GP, which like the top category race, was cancelled due to storms. In spite of his young age, Márquez demonstrated that he is an excellent rider in adverse conditions and ran up front throughout the race.

The excellent season the Spanish rider is having so far has not surprised those around him, who recognise his qualities. Márquez is one of the most promising riders in Spanish motorcycling and demonstrated this by finishing on the podium in the fifth race in which he competed, in Great Britain, becoming the youngest Spanish rider to do so.

In spite of this being his rookie season, the Spanish rider has proved to be brave and highly competitive, and he demonstrated this once again in Indianapolis. “It was an excellent race because I have learned a lot,” he said at the end of the race. “I went all out throughout the race, as it was a very aggressive group and if you weren’t confident, they all overtook you.”

Emilio Alzamora, 125cc World Champion in 1999, knows Marc Márquez very well, as he works with him in the pits, advising him and accompanying him at every Grand Prix. Alzamora sings the praises of the Spanish rider. “As a rider, he has an innate gift for riding a motorbike and some excellent skills, such as when he chooses his line to take corners. This allows him to ride at fast speeds much more easily,” he said.

Márquez’s riding has also won over the media as they reckon he has a promising future too. El Sport, for example, has defined him as the “Future Pedrosa,” and as “a highly skilled rider,” whereas As has referred to him as the “latest national gem.” Marca also praises him, joking about his tender age: “Stars with milk teeth.”

Everything is new for Marc Márquez this season. “I am learning a lot in the world championship, the first year is when you learn the most,” he said. But although this is his first season, the rider has already made history in the sport. Now, the Spanish rider is concentrating on progressing over the next few races in order to try to achieve more success in the Valencia GP, to close an outstanding season.
